Natascha graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. She received her Masters in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago.She has over 7 years in urban farming. Natascha started her urban gardening experience with a Neighborspace community garden. She established relationships with passionate growers, policy and community advocates. Collaboration is a key element in addressing the OPPORTUNITIES we have in this space.
Angela has a passion for helping those in need. She graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in Finance. She has worked for financial institutions and loves listening to music and spending time with family. Living in the mountains allows her to enjoy the peaceful presence of trees with plenty of deer visitors.
France enjoys laughter, learning, meeting new people, and fellowship. She has an undergraduate degree in Business Management and a graduate degree in Human Resources Management.
Sharon was inspired by her sister Pam, who had a love for growing food. She is a Windy City Harvest Alum. The Windy City Harvest Apprenticeship Program subjects ranged from plant nutrients and deficiency symptons, soil properties, irrigation and water management in urban agriculture, and pest management. She received a certificate in Sustainable Urban Agriculture from Chicago Botanic Garden/Richard J. Daley College. She has expereince working for an indoor hydroponic farm, which seeded and harvested 300-600 trays a week, weighed and packed produce for customer orders. She has over 7 years of agricultural experience.
Natascha loves growing bell peppers! She enjoys incorporating yellow, green, red, orange, and purple bell peppers in various dishes. She has been part of the urban farming community for over 7 years. Natascha practices companion planting for pest mitigation. She also implements inter-crop planning to take advantage of the benefits of each plant in the environment. Natascha loves amending soil to provide the plants the best environment for its growth.
David developed a strong passion for urban agriculture and a desire to build and promote an urban food system that incorporates local growing, processing, storage, selling, administration, necessary transportation to end users. He received training with the Chicago Botanic Windy City Harvest (WCH) program. David earned certificates in Urban Sustainable Agriculture, and Environmental Literacy Curriculum, Roots of Success, The Ecology Center, Berkley, Ca. Subsequent to that initial training, he has obtained certificates in Entrepreneurship for Local Foods, Season Extension with Windy City Harvest, Permaculture Design, The Resiliency Institute, Naperville, Il. He also been trained in Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), with Urban Growers, formerly Growing Power-Chicago. David has also completed The Produce Safety Alliance course and received a Produce Safety Alliance Growers Certificate.
Jennifer is our volunteer editor. She spent a portion of her career as an English teacher. After teaching, she became an editor. Jennifer worked on travel industry material and the Newtowner Magazine. Editing is a passion for her as is cooking and making up her own recipes. She is currently enrolled in a Master's in Fine Arts and Creative Writing program. When Jennifer is not writing, she is cooking all the recipes that her mother taught her and making them gluten free as she is celiac. She enjoys exploring her Irish, Dutch, and Austrian Slovak culinary roots.
